“But a B**tch is Happy!”: Omarion and Apryl Jones

Omarion and Apryl Jones

I am not thirsty and I am not looking on these blogs for any tea ok.  There is so much going on in the world today that could never be compared to the relationship status of two people and their decision to call it quits, but while I am here, let me say this real quick…………can we #TalkRelationships ?

Woke up this morning to the news that America’s cutest couple, Omarion and Apryl have called it quits. Instagram and social media will never be the same seeing provocative yet cute and cuddly pictures of this couple loving on each other as they bring two beautiful children into the world.

We followed them and many gained a restored sense on #blacklove and the desire to try again was instilled all because of this couple. Clueless to the day to day, unsaid, uncued, and captured moments in the silence of themselves, we wanted to be just like them. Why? Social media creates a perception that becomes reality in the eyes of those desperately searching. Traditional human behavior teaches us to continue the status quo even when we have seen our parents swim in it and and in some cases drown.

Unless you are living under their roof, you’ll never know the real details. The Love and Hip script on television often outweighs the cultural, societal, and emotional pressure that people face. While #relationshipgoals, #ahtheysocutetho hastags are flying all around, the reality is that there is no perfect relationship and for whatever reason, even the bomb sex, having two children one year apart, a reality series contract, good God genes, or the like can not outweigh the truth:

Cows make milk for to nourish the thirsty but even cows suffer dehydration. Selah.

Maybe she had a moment of sanity, waking up from her pause thinking why did I put my life on hold to make a life with you? A common situation many women find themselves in when they situate themselves into a comfort zone, playing house with all the amenities except for the one that truly counts: Commitment

I do not want to speculate or assume, just speaking on the obvious, I would dare say that even though she may feel light in her ability to wake up, I am sure taking to social media creating a Snap Chat in front of your child to proclaim to the world that “A B**tch Happy really is translation for, ” I woke up, walked out, not sure of next step but I gotta say something.” Just my guess but I pray that their streets align, co-parenting reigns, and if this just so happens to be another lemonade session, may they profit themselves into Holy Matrimony.

The Thought Bubble

Are you thinking about what you’re thinking about? Studies show ( speakers and preachers do too) that we don’t really often think about what we are thinking about. Sometimes, it’s much easier to just let a thought play out in our minds. When we let thoughts play out in our minds, this is often the best time that most of us gain our inspiration to move from reaction to action.

For many of us, not thinking about what we think about can be costly, because we realize that as we inventory our minds, we find patterns of decisions, habits, and inner vows that we have sworn to as a result of something that occured years ago in our lives.

The bible is so laser on how to capture the thoughts that we think about. I am a Preacher’s Kid, in love with God, and can speak in tongues but must admit that I too, have had challenges in the area of capturing thoughts. I knew that I had a deep relationship with God many years ago, yet I allowed society and Satan to form an orphaned mentality in my mind where I told myself that no one would ever love me the way my parents did, so I should just reject everyone. How many of you know, when you swear to something, that becomes your treasure and your present reality, after all, “Where your treasure is, there you heart will be also!”. It is really true.

One thing that we should do is watch out for mixed emotions. Reality TV makes schizophrenia seem sexy. It’s instability. Increased frustration, tantrums & depressive episodes may be trying to overtake you & in return you may want to give into them. It’s an attack so cast it down!

They hurt me…..punch them! Image

Oh, no you didn’t take my man…..I’m gonna pull your hair!

Know that God knows that we have emotions but He is not an emotional God. He does not want us to carry our emotions on our sleeves or allow every single thing we are thinking about to overtake us. No! We were created for more.

If you find yourself in a moment of loneliness don’t take it to Facebook and profess your need to have a mate and what you would cook for him or say to him if he were in your presence. If Johnny hurt you and you are scorned, keep it off of Facebook because if y’all ever go to court or are involved in a child custody battle, he could use this social media exchange to prove your are emotionally unstable. C’mon, you were made for more.

Recognize all of these things as an attack from Satan himself to step us out of our peace and what we know to be true. This morning during our worship time, Tally, my husband, and I read the following scripture found in Philippians 4:6, 8:

Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.

Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies.

So how do you capture thoughts and keep these thoughts in their proper place?

  1. Know the root? Confess the best! Everything we do starts in our mindset. Micheal Orion Carter, an amazing international minister of the Gospel shared this status on his Facebook page this morning: ”  Your mind is in the middle of your present circumstances and your future manifestation. All that you need is inside of your Spirit, through Christ, so allow your mind to be the bridge from what physically can’t be seen to into what will be seen” Hot dog, hot dog, that is a good word Minister Carter!
  2. Know that God loves you unconditionally so if you are in a moment of temporary emotions, acknowledge them and surrender them to God. Don’t allow yourself to be over taken by them. John 10:10 says ” The thief comes to kill, steal, and destroy!” You best believe that he is on the job! God has given you the weapon of confession so use it!
  3. Do a Thought Bubble- Locate what you are thinking about as a way to establish your current patterns of thought! I often do this exercise with my expressive therapy clients to help them understand what they are thinking about so try it and look for the recurring pattern! Image
  4. Get peace with yourself and your circle- Peace is a very strong word and it’s often difficult to achieve when we are looking around at our present circumstances. Thoughts are created to assist us with expressing the visual things we are sensing. Ever wondered how a bird can fly high in the sky yet be in tune to the little nest that he needs to reach? What if we could develop an aerial view to see things above and not around us? I am convinced that this would taper off our desire to become emotionally wrangled in situations that we experience. Ask God for you to see things the way that He does. I am certain that He will aide you!

Stay encouraged.
